Czech Republic got a chance to organize international championship after nine years. You may remember World Championship held in 2001 in Pilsen, now you have a chance to enjoy World Club Championship in Liberec! It means that we will welcome players in club dresses instead of national representatives.

The best club of the season 2009/2010 will be crowned on Saturday 1st May in Tipsport arena in Liberec. Number of participants of club tournament is limited by 32 four-members clubs. The best club from previous World Club Championship - Enkoping HSC, three best clubs from the World ranking valid on 1st March 2010, three Czech clubs and one best club from each ITHF member country can participate. The rest of participants will be selected from other registered clubs according to the World national ranking as described at the ITHF WCC rules.
Your club can also participate - just send us name of your club and squad list with at least 4 and at max 8 players. Organizers will let you know if your club will have a chance to participate in World Club Championship or not.
Since we would like to decide in Liberec not only which club is the best, but also which player is the best, we decided to organize international individual tournament one day after the club championship - therefore Czech Open 2010 will be held on Sunday 2nd May. It will be the seventh edition of the Czech Open and quite sure it will be one of the best tournaments of the World Tour 2009/2010. Czech Open will decide the final standings of the Czech Cup 2009/2010 as well. Also rookies will be welcomed to participate at the Czech Open!
Entrance for audience is free - a good reason to come to support your favourite team or player and enjoy the biggest table hockey event held in the Czech Republic in last years!

World Club Championship

NEW: Information about seeding of teams and distribution into basic groups - PDF file.

You can register your club until 1st April 2010. If there is less than 32 clubs registered on 1st April, second term for registration will be announced. NEW: Since number of registered clubs up to 1st April did not reach capacity of tournament, clubs (groups of four players) can register until 27th April, or until we will get registration from 32th club.

Every club can place 4 to 8 players on squad list. Substitution of players will be allowed during every team match - it means all 8 team members can play each team match with the only restriction that each of them can play against the same opponet at max once. Please send us not only names of players and name of club which can be found at the World ranking, but also name of club you want to use during the World Club Championship.

Registration fee is 1 000 CZK (40 Euro) / club no matter how many players are on the squad list. We kindly ask all participants to bring their own club dresses.

Preliminary playing system of the World Club Championship

If there is 24 – 32 clubs playing at the championship, there will be four basic groups. The four best clubs will be seeded to first position of each group (the best club to the group A, the second best to the group B etc.) and the other clubs will be drawn with respect to position of three best club members (participants of the tournament) at the World ranking valid on 1st March 2010. NEW: It was decided that there will be no draw and all clubs will be seeded by a “snake system” to basic groups by the World ranking. Clubs will play each other once in basic groups. The best three clubs from each basic group will promote to two final groups (E and F).  Group E will consist of three best clubs from basic groups A and D and in group F there will be the best three clubs from groups C and B. Results of mutual matches held in basic groups will be counted also to the final groups - therefore every club will play only three more matches in final group. Best four clubs from each final group will qualify to the quarterfinal which will be played by following system: E1 – F4, E3 – F2, E2 – F3 a E4 – F1. Clubs which will be eliminated in the quarterfinal will not play for their final placement - it will be decided by results of the final groups, respectively by seeding of clubs. In the semifinal there will be matches between winners of following quarterfinal matches: w(E1 – F4) – w(E3 – F2) and w(E2 – F3) – w(E4 – F1). There will be match for final 3rd place for eliminated semifinalists.

Clubs which will be placed on fourth and lower places in basic groups will play in placement groups - in one group there will be all fourth placed clubs, in another all fifth clubs etc. The lowest group will contain at leat 3 and at max 6 clubs.

If there is less than 24 clubs they will be divided into two basic groups where they will play each other once. Then there will be play-off starting with quarterfinal for best four clubs from each group. Clubs placed on the same positions in basic groups will play for their final placement (5th vs. 5th etc.).
